Validation

The validation result presented here apply to the Cloud Mask algorithms implemented in version 2010 of the Polar Platform System package.

Accuracy measures and verifiction scores for the Cloud Mask as compared with Synop report for version 2010 (in parentesis version 2009). Satellites considered are Metop, NOAA18, NOAA17 and NOAA15.

MA: the Mean Absolute error in octas
bias: the average of the satellite cloud cover minus observed cloud cover
POD = Probability Of Detection
FAR = False Alarm Rate
N is the number of observations.
